Frequently Asked Questions

Common Questions

What is the difference between Cohort and Foundations?

Cohort is group-based peer learning facilitated by a senior CFO. Five other finance leaders are in the room with you, learning the same frameworks at the same time. There is no personalized mentor and no sign-off on your individual deliverables. You leave with knowledge, frameworks, peer relationships, and applied templates — but the work product is yours alone. Foundations is one-on-one. You get a personal senior CFO mentor, biweekly sessions, and a Graduation Portfolio with the four documented outcomes (budget, GAAP, MEC, forecast) reviewed and signed off by the mentor. If your company needs proof that the work has been done — for an audit, a sponsor, a board — Foundations is the right fit.

How do I know which tier is right for my finance leader?

The simplest way is a 30-minute discovery call. We listen for company stage, whether there is a defined milestone in the next 12 months, and how the finance leader learns best. From that conversation we recommend a tier. As a general guide: $10M–$30M companies with stable operations fit Cohort. $30M–$50M companies fit Foundations. $40M–$80M companies preparing for a milestone fit Accelerator. $60M–$100M companies in active financing or transaction phases fit Executive Track.

How does the cohort format work?

Cohorts launch quarterly. Each cohort is 4–6 finance leaders curated by Executive Allies for stage and industry fit. The cohort meets virtually once per month for 90 minutes — 30 minutes of framework teaching by the facilitator, 45 minutes of peer Q&A and case discussion, 15 minutes of commitments for the next session. Between sessions you have access to a private discussion channel and the recorded curriculum library. Cohort engagements run 12 months. We do not record the peer discussion portion of the sessions — that's where company specifics come up, and members are more candid when the conversation is off the record. We do record the framework teaching for replay and library inclusion.

Is this billed monthly or annually?

Both options are available across all four tiers. The default is monthly billing for the 12-month engagement. Annual prepayment is offered at a 3% discount and includes locked-in pricing for the full year. Payment is processed securely through an ACH payment processor.

What is the cancellation policy?

All tiers are designed as 12-month structured programs. We offer a 30-day notice cancellation policy after Month 2 (Cohort and Foundations) or after Month 3 (Accelerator and Executive Track). The early months are non-refundable to protect the intensive intake, diagnostic, and cohort-curation investment we make in every participant.

Can I upgrade or downgrade tiers during the engagement?

Yes. Upgrades (e.g., Cohort → Foundations) are common, often triggered by a new milestone or a participant who wants more personal coaching. Upgrades take effect immediately. Downgrades take effect at the start of the next quarter. Pricing is pro-rated.

Who are the senior CFO mentors and cohort facilitators?

Our mentors and cohort facilitators have served as CFOs, controllers, and senior finance executives at companies with revenues up to $500M+, operating across private-equity-backed, publicly traded, venture-backed, family-owned, and founder-led environments. Collectively, they have led or supported transactions from venture and seed financings through acquisition integrations to multi-billion-dollar divestitures. Several bring Big 4 audit pedigree. Industry coverage spans SaaS, software, telecommunications, manufacturing, construction, healthcare, professional services, and retail.

Why is the Cohort tier cheaper if it covers the same curriculum?

The curriculum content is the same. What's different is the delivery model. In Cohort, a single senior CFO's time is shared across 4–6 participants in a group format — that economic leverage lets us offer the tier at a lower price. There is no personalized 1:1 coaching, no customization, no MEC sprint, no GAAP review, and no certified outcomes. Cohort delivers exposure and frameworks; Foundations and above deliver personalized transformation with mentor-validated outcomes.
